Keep the Sabbath!
Lord Sabbaoth was His name. He was holy. God Almighty. The Power Supreme. I am Who I Am. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, of Joseph,Ruth, David and Solomon. Israel's Protector. The Creator. Well, there are many names for our God. I have just barely begun to scratch the surface. He was high and lifted up. He was SPECIAL. There was none like Him. We pray to our Heavenly Father. He was all powerful, all knowing, ever present. As young adults today would say, He was "The Dude". Sunday is His day, our day of rest. But in our economy for many, Sunday is just another day of working. As I was growing up back in Ohio, I remember my Dad, who was a firm believer in the holiness of Sunday commenting about a neighboring farmer whose crops were sub par, "Well, I don't remember him planting his crops on a Sunday, but he must have." Nothing was open on Sunday and I remember the old saints tut-tuttting as the Blue Laws were repealed. My point is not that work should not be done on Sunday and stores should be closed, but my point is that we all need a day of holiness, not just a day of rest, but a day of holiness when we consciously glorify God and study His word, and meditate on that Word. Even pastors need a Sabbath because Sunday is their day of work--some say it is their only day of work kiddingly. How can we consciously set aside a time in our busy schedules so our souls get a rest and our consciences work over time? I have found in my experience that my soul's blood pressure, my soul pressure calms down while my mind and heart are meditating and praying. Do you think that God would be pleased by the amount of time you spend listening to God's communication with you? God genuinely does not desire a straight line communication with you, that is, a straight line from His heart into your consciousness. No, God desires to share with you His perspectives and to hear your requests and comments. God really wants to hear from you, but He also wants you to hear Him. Let me suggest that your placement may be an important factor in your Sabbath. By that I mean that we need to get away from the kids, the family, the television, the telephone, the I Pod; remove yourself from your mundane place and go off by yourself or with one trusted other to a quiet, meditative place. Married partners may find this to be a highlight of their week when they separate themselves just for a few moments and listen to and for God together. Here in Colorado where we live in God's backyard, let me suggest that the mountains or along a stream or into any area that is so awesome by nature may constitute a fit place for your Sabbath meditation where we can meet God, make yourself open to receiving His inspiration. Where would you go to meet any friend? What a friend we have in Jesus, all our griefs and sins to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. May it be so in our lives.

NEED REVIVED? SPIRITUALLY DRAINED? NEED REJUVENATE?
After we have heard: "Christ is counting on you!", have you let Christ down? Has it been at least 2 years since your original Emmaus experience? So often we get deflated after our Emmaus or Chyrsalis experiences and we drift away from our commitments that we made on our Walk. Happens to all of us, but we have a cure for you: 2011 EMMAUS REVIVAL WEEKEND, coming January 7 and 8, 2011 at the Best Western Conference Center at I-25 and Route 34 at the Loveland Exit. How convenient is that? We offer an amazingly uplifting and inspiring revival experience with many, but shortened formats of your weekend for your rejuvenation. Sandy Stewart, from the Our Center in Longmont will be our keynote speaker, Dennis Miller from First Christian in Loveland will be our discussion leader, Karl Winegardner, NCEC Community Spiritual Director, will be our Bible Study leader and Pam Hilliard from Group Publishing in Loveland will be our dynamic worship leader. The event begins on Friday night at 6:30 and ends on Saturday around 4:30, so your weekend can still fit your regular Sunday commitments. The planning team has attempted to hold costs down at $90.00 per person (double occumpancy lodging and food=$65.00). Local residents may elect to come for the sessions, breakfast, lunch and snacks at a reduced rate. If the weather is chancy, we will be close to I-25 for a quick getaway. For further information contact Russ Baich or Karl Winegardner (970-667-2332). No one will go home unrevived; everyone will have a renewed Emmaus commitment with adjusted priorties! Register early.
A special invitation is extended to NCEC, but is also extended to Emmaus of the Rockies and to Columbine Emmaus Communities.
We are one in the Spirit!
